Africa leads the way in terms of the average potential of solar energy around the world, finds Statista.

Figures from the Global Solar Atlas for The World Bank, as analyzed by Statista, reveal the average potential of solar energy around the world and as this infographic shows, Africa is out in front. When combining the average long-term practical yield of a utility scale solar energy installation in each country, Africa’s 4.51 kWh/kWp/day is ahead of second-placed Central & South America’s 4.48, while North America is further behind on 4.37.

The assessments “exclude areas due to physical/technical constraints, such as rugged terrain, presence of urbanized/industrial areas, forests, and areas that are too distant from the centers of human activity”, but do not consider “soft constraints, i.e., areas that might be unsuitable due to regulations imposed by national or regional authorities (such as conservation of cropland or nature conservation)”.

The new San Diego Solar Equity Program targets low-income residents who can't afford rooftop solar to get access to clean energy.

SAN DIEGO — There is a push for clean energy in communities that may be most at risk to climate change.

The city of San Diego is partnering with San Diego Gas & Electric and the Center for Sustainable Energy to provide solar panels at little to no cost for low income families.

The program is called the San Diego Solar Equity Program.

“It’s targeted to low income folks who otherwise might not get access to clean energy because they can’t afford the $20,000 it takes to put solar on their rooftop,” said Lawrence Goldenhersh of the Center for Sustainable Energy.

The solar energy runs all the onboard equipment and amenities of the LV trailer which means you may never have to plug into a campsite again.

Living Vehicle’s latest electric trailer takes “self-sufficient” to a whole new level.

The 2023 model is equipped with a groundbreaking new system that can produce drinking water from thin air. The team at LV says no other mobile home or trailer currently on the market offers this innovative feature.

Developed by Watergen, the atmospheric water generator draws in air, filters out any dust and dirt, then sends the clean air through a heating and cooling process. This causes condensation, and, voilà, water is created. The main unit is seamlessly integrated into the vehicle and connects to a faucet inside. The trailer is also equipped with an oversized water tank to store the good stuff.

A solar-powered machine capable of sucking CO2 from the atmosphere could help us alleviate some of our climate woes.

A solar-powered machine capable of sucking CO2 from the atmosphere could help us alleviate some of our climate woes. And good news is that it just secured a $700,000 contract to capture and store carbon in Australia, according to a press release.

The technology was developed by a carbon dioxide capture company called AspiraDAC, with its first customer, global financial infrastructure company Stripe, aiming to install it this year.

Stripe purchased the system through Frontier, a partnership between Alphabet, Shopify, Meta, and McKinsey. In case you missed it, Frontier plans to invest $925 million in carbon removal technology over the next nine years to encourage the development of carbon removal technologies.

The consortium will invest $6B as it recruits solar panel manufacturers in a long-term strategic plan to supply up to 7GW of solar modules per year from 2024

A group of U.S. solar energy project developers on Tuesday said they would jointly spend about $6 billion to support expansion of the domestic solar panel supply chain.

The U.S. Solar Buyer Consortium, which includes developers AES Corporation AES.N, Clearway Energy Group, Cypress Creek Renewables and DE Shaw Renewable Investments, said in a statement that the funds would address current supply chain issues.

Since the start of the pandemic, companies that buy solar panels for large power plants have struggled with global supply chain disruptions that have driven up costs, as well as potential U.S. tariffs on imported panels from Asia. Duties on those products, which supply most U.S. projects, would make solar energy more expensive and less competitive with power produced by fossil fuels.

The proposed rules closely follow joint recommendations that the SEIA and its partners submitted in February 2022 on interconnection reform.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued a notice of proposed rulemaking (NOPR) detailing the proposed interconnection reforms the Commission would like to adopt in order to clear interconnection backlogs and speed clean energy deployment.

The proposed rules closely follow joint recommendations that the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and its partners submitted in February 2022 on interconnection reform. SEIA recently explained and expanded on these comments in an interconnection whitepaper it released earlier this week.

With a futuristic bee farm within the photovoltaic park, beekeeping increases crop output by increasing the degree of pollination.

A place where bees, crops, animals, and photovoltaic panels coexist and thrive may very well be feasible.

In fact, modern solar technology combined with traditional techniques has improved the bee population and honey production in the Spanish town of Carmona, according to an initial report by Endesa.

In the town, roughly two and a half million bees coexist with sheep and aromatic plants in the middle of a solar facility. Run by the Endesa energy company, the project is called Solar Apiary and is a brilliant example of agrivoltaics, the simultaneous utilization of land for both solar power and agriculture.
