Once the user pulls out the foldable photovoltaic panels from the mobile solar container, powering up equipment and properties with green energy follows suit, and this can be done almost anywhere as long as the land is big enough to accommodate the series of panels.

Families in NM, IL, and Washington D.C. will now have access to community solar through HHS’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program

Today, the Biden-Harris Administration, through a partnership between the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), launched the pilot of the Clean Energy Connector, a tool that connects families to solar energy through HHS’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The first-of-its-kind software can now be used by local LIHEAP program administrators in Illinois, Washington, D.C., and New Mexico to connect community solar subscriptions to as many as 40,000 households with low incomes. Connecting LIHEAP-eligible households with community solar subscriptions will lower energy bills for families, increase access to clean energy among underserved communities, and increase equitable solar energy deployment, in support of President Biden’s ambitious clean energy and Justice40 goals.

“Renewable energy is by far the cheapest form of power and now, thanks to innovative solutions developed under the Biden-Harris Administration, more households across America can access the health and savings benefits that solar power provides,” said U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm. “DOE’s partnership with HHS will increase the deployment of community solar, helping thousands of families lower their energy bills and in turn reduce their energy burden, ensuring Americans across the nation are included as we transition to a clean energy economy.

Fresno USD officially inaugurated a district-wide solar energy & storage portfolio with a combined power generating capacity of 17.5 MW.

Fresno Unified School District (Fresno USD) has officially inaugurated a portfolio of district-wide solar energy and storage portfolio with a combined power generating capacity of 17.5 MW which was realised in partnership with US distributed solar and storage developer ForeFront Power.

The portfolio includes 40 projects with solar canopies and energy storage systems across 31 district sites. It will produce 23.5 million kWh of clean electricity annually, covering the power consumption of over 3,000 homes.

The newly-launched assets are expected to save the District over USD 40 million (EUR 36.6m) throughout its 20-year lifespan, according to a press release published Wednesday.

The British military has placed a $1 million order for San Diego-based Beam Global’s (Nasdaq: BEEM) off-grid solar EV chargers.

The UK Ministry of Defence ordered 10 of Beam Global’s EV ARC sustainable charging systems and one ARC Mobility trailer, which it will deploy at British Sovereign Base Areas in Cyprus. It’s the first big order for Beam Global’s Europe factory, but it’s already sold “hundreds” of US-manufactured off-grid solar EV chargers to the US military.

Brigadier Tom Harper, the British Strategic Command attaché to the US, said:

Beam Global’s patented solar-powered EV ARC will provide not only clean energy for British military electric vehicles in Cyprus, but the product is multi-utility and will be trialed to provide green energy and power key defense equipment in remote locations and overseas areas.

Arevon Energy Inc., a renewable energy company, and California-based Meta (Nasdaq: META) have reached two long-term environmental attributes purchase agreements (EAPA) for the Kelso Solar Project in Scott County, Missouri, the companies said Tuesday in a press release.

Arevon’s Kelso Solar Project will generate 349 megawatts of power to support Meta’s operations in the region with 100% renewable energy, officials said. Meta is building an $800 million data center in Kansas City, joining 21 data centers it operates worldwide. Meta expects to spend about $15.12 billion related to its renewable energy agreements as of Dec. 31, most of which is due beyond five years, the company said in its annual report.

The U.S. Dept. of Energy’s (DOE) Loan Programs Office (LPO) has announced a conditional commitment for an up to $72.8 million partial loan guarantee to finance the development of a solar and long-duration energy storage microgrid on the Tribal lands of the Viejas Band of the Kumeyaay Indians near Alpine, California.

This project is the first to be offered a conditional commitment through the Tribal Energy Financing Program, which was expanded and provided new loan authority the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
